Sarah Johnston
Project Director, Associate
Sarah Johnston is a Project Director with a demonstrated history of working in the architecture and planning industry, with an emphasis on retail design and grocery. She joined mcg architecture’s Cleveland office in 2012. Sarah graduated with a dual Master of Architecture and Master of Urban Design from Kent State’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative, is NCARB certified, and is a licensed architect in the State of Ohio.
Upon joining the mcg team, Sarah began cultivating relationships with tenants, developers, contractors, consultants and project team members. She provides architectural design, project management, production, and construction administration services to a variety of clients on projects located across the United States, working on projects from conception to completion. Sarah has worked on site planning projects, commercial retail ground-up and renovations. Sarah’s work with grocery clients includes Giant Eagle, Earth Fare, Dave’s Market, Lucky’s Market and Raley’s along with other national retail tenants.
Sarah’s experience working on projects with aggressive schedules has taught her to be detailed oriented, organized, and proactive. Sarah enjoys working on projects with specialized programs and finding solutions to challenging design problems. She sees every new project as an opportunity to meet new people and expand her understanding of how buildings change, who we are, and how we work.
Fun Fact: Outside of work, Sarah is usually cooking, reading, or lobbying family and friends for one more round of board games or cards.
